Karel Kapoun

Karel Kapoun, General Manager, Renewable Natural Gas, Shell Karel Kapoun leads Shell’s Renewable Natural Gas business, where he manages a funnel of-first-of-a-kind plants from inception to operation while growing Shell’s RCNG downstream business in North America. He is also currently developing Shell’s Biomethane supply business in Europe and India. Since he joined Shell in 2005, Karel has led teams dedicated to developing technological innovations in new and cleaner energies. He has served as Chair and governing board member of the stationary committee of the NEW-IG, a private industrial partner of the European Commission for fuel cell and hydrogen commercialization. Karel also currently sits on the Executive Committee of the Advanced Biofuels Association. Karel holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of New Hampshire, a master’s degree in Biochemical Engineering from Ecole Centrale in Paris, and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Tufts University.
